A19 southbound between A179 and A689 | Southbound | Roadworks Opens in a new window
The A19 southbound will be closed between the junctions with the A179 and the A689 due to roadworks, between 8 pm and 6 am, from 27 May 2012 to 2 June 2012.

On the M62 westbound between junctions J35 and J34, minor delays are possible due to roadworks closing one lane. Expect disruption until 5:00 pm on 21 May 2012.
Wylam Parish Council is the elected Council representing around 2000 people who live within the boundaries of the Parish. The present Parish Council was elected in May 2007 and represents the interests of Wylam residents with Northumberland County Council Opens in a new window and other service providers. There are eight Parish Councillors. The current annual Precept, a sum raised through Council Tax, is £35,000
The Clerk to the Council is available to answer your queries at the office in Wylam Institute on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 12.30pm and 4.30pm.
Wylam Parish Council, together with those of the neighbouring parishes of Ovingham, Ovington and Horsley form the Joint Burial Committee, which manages and maintains Ovingham Cemetery.
The Parish Council's newsletter, The Wylam Globe, is published four times a year. The Wylam Information Card, a guide to public services, local societies, clubs and organisations, is updated every two years and a copy is distributed to every household in the village.
The Wylam Village Plan was produced in 2003, and it is hoped to update this in the near future.
Wylam is a thriving country village situated in Northumberland on the banks of the River Tyne Close to Hadrian's Wall Country Opens in a new window and Northumberland's Heritage Coast Opens in a new window with its white sand beaches at Druridge Bay and its historic castles at Bamburgh, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne. George Stephenson, often referred to as the 'Father of Railways' was born in Wylam in 1781 and the work of several other early nineteenth century railway pioneers, among them Timothy Hackworth, designer of the Globe locomotive, and William Hedley, was also centred here.
The village has good bus and rail links to Hexham Opens in a new window, Carlisle Opens in a new window, Newcastle Upon Tyne Opens in a new window and the Gateshead Metro Centre Opens in a new window shopping and entertainment complex. The attractions of central Newcastle-Gateshead Opens in a new window and the Quayside, including the Sage Gateshead Opens in a new window and the Baltic Art Gallery Opens in a new window are thus within easy reach of the village. Newcastle Airport Opens in a new window. is only fifteen minutes drive away.
Wylam is well served by a good selection of small shops, public houses, the popular Wylam First School Opens in a new window, churches, a branch Library, doctors' surgeries, sports and community facilities.
An increasing number of cyclists enjoy the Hadrian's Cycleway Opens in a new window, recently completed and maintained by Sustrans, which passes through the village. Walkers enjoy the Tyne Riverside Country Park Opens in a new window, part of which is located near the banks of the Tyne at Wylam. The Wylam Haughs Nature Reserve and the Wylam Railway Museum, both managed by the Parish Council, also attract many visitors each year.
